Description

For fiberglass water slides that have lost their shine but haven’t gone chalky. The Light Oxidation Kit uses a single medium-cut compound to lift light oxidation and haze and restore a high gloss, then seals the surface with UV wax, with the pads and cleaners to do the whole job in an afternoon.

Which kit do I need?

Run your hand across a dry section of the slide. If it comes away chalky or white, or the surface feels rough and the color has gone flat, you have heavy oxidation and need the Heavy Oxidation Kit. If the slide is simply dull or hazy and has lost its shine but still feels smooth, the Light Oxidation Kit will bring it back.

What’s in the kit

• Farécla Profile 400 Advanced Plus Fast Medium Cut Liquid Compound (1 L) – removes light oxidation, dullness, and fine defects from gelcoat and leaves a high gloss in one step.
• Farécla Clean and Protect (1 L spray) – silicone-free cleaner and protectant for quick wipe-downs between waxes. Leaves a friction-free, high-gloss finish.
• Farécla Profile UV Wax, Hand Application (1 L) – thick wax with UV inhibitors. Seals the restored gelcoat and provides up to 3 months of protection and gloss.
• Two 8″ Farécla G Mop Wool Compounding Pads – the pad Farécla recommends for its liquid compounds. Use one for cutting and keep the second clean for polishing.
• Star brite Boat Wash, Blueberry Scent (16 oz) – concentrated, phosphate-free wash for the first step and for routine cleaning afterward.

How to use it

1. Wash. Mix the Boat Wash per the label, wash the whole slide, and rinse. Let it dry.
2. Polish. Shake the Profile 400 well. Working one section at a time with a rotary polisher and a wool pad, polish until the haze is gone and the gloss comes back. Keep the pad moving and the surface damp with compound. Switch to the second pad once the first loads up.
3. Protect. Wipe down, then apply the Profile UV Wax by hand with a soft cloth and buff off once it has hazed.
4. Maintain. Use Clean and Protect for quick touch-ups between washes, and re-wax every three months.

If the slide is still flat or blotchy after the Profile 400 pass, the oxidation is heavier than it looked. Step up to the Heavy Oxidation Kit, which adds the coarse-cut Profile 200 for stage one.

A fiberglass slide should be washed and waxed every three months during the season. That simple routine keeps the ride surface slick, protects the gelcoat from UV, and stops oxidation from building up in the first place.
